Question 1

What are the early signs of hearing loss?

Accepted Answer

Early signs include frequently asking people to repeat themselves, turning the TV or radio volume up higher than others, having difficulty understanding conversations in noisy environments (like restaurants), and feeling as if others are mumbling. You might also experience a ringing or buzzing sound in your ears (tinnitus).

Question 2

How often should I get my hearing checked?

Accepted Answer

We recommend that healthy adults over the age of 50 get a baseline hearing test and have it checked annually thereafter. If you work in a noisy environment or already experience symptoms of hearing loss, you should be tested immediately and then once a year.

Question 3

How long does a typical hearing test take?

Accepted Answer

A comprehensive hearing evaluation at Mrudul Hearing Aid Centre usually takes between 30 to 45 minutes. This includes a discussion of your medical history, a physical examination of your ears, and the audiometric testing itself.

Question 4

Is a hearing test painful or comfortable?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. A hearing test is a completely painless, non-invasive, and comfortable procedure. You will simply sit in a soundproof environment and wear headphones or earphones while listening to a series of tones and words.

Question 5

Do I need a referral from my doctor to book a hearing test?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, you do not need a referral from a doctor to book a hearing consultation with us. You can schedule an appointment directly at any of our hearing centers. However, if your insurance requires a referral for coverage, it may be beneficial to obtain one.

Question 6

What exactly happens during a hearing consultation?

Accepted Answer

During your consultation, our expert audiologists will comprehensively examine your ear canal, conduct a Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) test to determine your hearing thresholds, and explain your audiogram results in detail. If hearing loss is detected, we will guide you through the best hearing aid options suited for your specific lifestyle and hearing profile.

Question 7

Do you offer home service for hearing tests?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we understand that visiting a clinic may not be possible for everyone. Mrudul Hearing Aid Centre provides convenient home visit services where our professionals bring portable, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to evaluate your hearing in the comfort of your own home.

Question 8

What are the different types of hearing aids available?

Accepted Answer

We offer a full range of modern digital hearing aids from world-class brands like Phonak, Signia, Resound, and Widex. The styles include Behind-The-Ear (BTE), Receiver-In-Canal (RIC), In-The-Ear (ITE), In-The-Canal (ITC), and Completely-In-Canal (CIC) or Invisible-In-Canal (IIC).

Question 9

How do I know which hearing aid technology is right for me?

Accepted Answer

The right hearing aid depends on several factors: the severity and type of your hearing loss, your anatomical ear shape, your lifestyle needs (e.g., active, quiet, professional), your dexterity, and your budget. Our audiologists will perform a thorough needs-assessment to recommend the optimal solution for you.

Question 10

Are modern hearing aids very noticeable?

Accepted Answer

Modern hearing aids are incredibly discreet. Styles like the Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) have tiny wires that are virtually invisible, while Completely-In-Canal (CIC) and Invisible-In-Canal (IIC) models are custom-fit to sit deep within your ear canal, making them completely hidden from outside view.

Question 11

Can I try a hearing aid before I decide to purchase it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! We believe in making informed decisions. Mrudul Hearing Aid Centre offers trial periods, including our 'Book a Free Trial' program, so you can experience the benefits of advanced hearing technology in your daily environment before making a financial commitment.

Question 12

How much do hearing aids typically cost?

Accepted Answer

The cost of a hearing aid varies significantly depending on the level of technology (Essential, Standard, Advanced, or Premium) and the specific features included, such as Bluetooth streaming or rechargeable batteries. During your consultation, we provide transparent pricing and help select a device that fits your budget.

Question 13

Do you offer EMI or financing options for purchasing hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we want to make better hearing accessible to everyone. We offer flexible EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) options and financing plans to help spread the cost of your hearing aids over time.

Question 14

Does medical insurance cover the cost of hearing aids and tests?

Accepted Answer

Coverage varies widely depending on your specific health insurance provider and policy plan. Some policies cover the diagnostic hearing test, and some may offer a partial subsidy for hearing aids. We recommend checking directly with your insurance provider, and our staff can assist with the necessary documentation.

Question 15

Is there an adjustment period when getting used to new hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your brain has likely been deprived of certain sounds for a long time. When you start wearing hearing aids, sounds may initially seem loud or unnatural. It typically takes a few weeks of consistent wear for your brain to acclimate and filter background noise normally again.

Question 16

How long do hearing aid batteries usually last?

Accepted Answer

For traditional zinc-air batteries, the lifespan is generally between 5 to 14 days, depending on the battery size and the hearing aid's power demands. However, we also offer a wide selection of modern, rechargeable hearing aids that provide a full day of uninterrupted hearing on a single overnight charge.

Question 17

How do l properly clean and maintain my hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Hearing aids should be wiped down daily with a soft, dry cloth. You should keep them away from moisture (like showers or rain) and extreme heat. Use the provided cleaning brush to gently clear away earwax from the microphone and receiver ports. We also provide professional deep cleaning services at our centers.

Question 18

Can I connect my hearing aids directly to my smartphone, TV or laptop?

Accepted Answer

Many of the advanced and premium hearing aids we offer feature integrated Bluetooth connectivity. This allows you to stream phone calls, music, podcasts, and TV audio directly to your hearing aids, essentially turning them into high-quality wireless earbuds.

Question 19

What is the warranty period on a new hearing aid?

Accepted Answer

New hearing aids typically come with a manufacturer's warranty that covers repairs against internal component failures for 2 to 4 years, depending on the brand and model.

Question 20

Can I sleep, shower or swim with my hearing aids on?

Accepted Answer

Most standard hearing aids must be removed before sleeping, showering, swimming, or applying hair products. While many modern devices are water-resistant to sweat and light rain, they are not completely waterproof.
